Second year support of the on-site mentoring program located at schools, youth clubs and community centers throughout the Milwaukee community.

Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Milwaukee $10,000
Support for the Mobile Bike Repair Shop, where youth earn a bike by volunteering at the club and learn to repair bikes.

Camps For Kids/COA Youth and Family Centers $15,600
To support the salary of a part time coordinator to manage a collaborative camp program for central city children; 14 Wisconsin camps participate.

Cathedral Center $75,000
To renovate the old convent building adjacent to St. John’s Cathedral to house a homeless shelter and assessment center for women and children. A new nonprofit organization will bring together most of the major providers of services to homeless people in Milwaukee to provide on-site services.

Center for Blind and Visually Impaired Children $10,000
Second year support for a two-week camp experience for blind children in collaboration with the Badger Association for the Blind.

Clara Mohammed School $20,000
To support the after school program at this central city school located in the Harambee neighborhood. Field trips, homework help and recreational activities keep children motivated and engaged and help working parents.

COA Youth & Family Centers $25,000
Support of the programs of the Family Resource Center.

Creative SHARP Presentations, Inc. $10,000
Two-year support for an evaluation of the effectiveness of the Creative SHARP curriculum.

Danceworks, Inc. $20,000
To expand creative arts and movement classes for high-functioning elders who participate in programs at Milwaukee County senior centers.

Support of the provision of home maintenance services to poor elderly clients living in the community.

Discovery World Museum $20,000
Support for the Milwaukee Girls Science Partnership, which provides after-school science and technology programming for girls and professional development for teachers.

Dr. James Albrecht Free Clinic, Inc. $20,000
To support free health care to persons with no insurance and an inability to pay for care in the Hartford and West Bend areas. Nurse practitioner and physician services are provided one evening a week at each location. Referral services are available from many medical providers in the community.

Emmaus Lutheran School $25,000
To support construction of a school playground at this central city school at 23rd and Hadley Streets.

Year-end gift for street ministry.

Second year support of the Institute for Local Politics, a learning and support program for elected officials.

To support a technology program that provides an opportunity for girls to acquire skills in various software programs including web site development, photography, and video production.

To support the club’s expanding transitional employment program that provides job training and placement for persons experiencing mental illness.

Great Lakes Hemophilia Foundation $10,000
To provide financial counseling and assistance to individuals with hemophilia. The program often prevents the loss of insurance and promotes access to healthcare.

Support of the Children's Court Judges Leadership Retreat to be held on November 18-19, 2002.

For the production of the 2003 Report Card on Charitable Giving produced by the Public Policy Forum in collaboration with the Greater Milwaukee Foundation and the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.

Hispanics in Philanthropy/Greater Milwaukee Foundation $24,000
Over three years to support a funders collaborative to develop the leadership and capacity of small and medium size nonprofit Latino organizations in the Milwaukee area.

Hunger Task Force of Milwaukee $30,000
Support of a system for distributing supplemental food to twenty sites throughout the community where poor elderly live. The monthly distribution expects to serve at least 5,000 older residents.

Impact Health, Inc. $10,000
To support two health partnerships with Parklawn Christian Church and Midtown Neighborhood Association. A yearlong series of health education programs covering stress, heart health, breast cancer, menopause and general health will be presented using video and participatory sessions to groups of up to 50 persons.

“Girls in the House” program which offers educational and recreational mentoring and creative opportunities for girls four days a week after school.

To help establish a fund to help individuals of modest means with supplemental services while staying at this hospital hospitality house during a medical crisis. Supplemental services include daycare, social services, financial and nutritional counseling.

To support the Maridadi Rite of Passage project, an arts and educational program serving adolescent boys and girls from Milwaukee’s central city.

Legal Aid Society of Milwaukee $15,000
H.E.L.P. Project - Helping the Elderly with Legal Problems providing free legal service. Services are targeted to issues relating to medical and mental health access, income maintenance, consumer issues and housing.

Marquette University $50,000
Capital support to help the university meet a challenge grant in the amount of $1,000,000 from the Kresge Foundation to help fund the construction of the new dental school.

McBeath Community Partners Endowment Program $200,000
To fund matching endowment gifts raised in 2003 by the Milwaukee Public Library Foundation, Public Policy Forum, America's Second Harvest and United Community Center.

Meta House, Inc. $25,000
Support of the Next Step Program, in collaboration with St. Catherine Residence to provide a safe, supportive living environment for women recovering from alcohol and drug abuse.

Milwaukee Catalyst $10,000
To support the development of a training manual and a six-week training program for parent advocates of public school children in the Milwaukee area.

Milwaukee Christian Center $25,000
To support a comprehensive program serving Hmong and Lao elderly. Services include health care, socialization, expanding their knowledge of American culture, and connecting them with community resources.

Milwaukee County Department on Aging $10,000
For matching support to plan an ambitious project connecting communities serving the elderly by forging new partnerships and moving the focus of long term care from self-contained buildings to neighborhood corridors of aging. Robert Wood Johnson Foundation is the principal funder.

Year-end gift for the youth program.

Milwaukee Public Library Foundation $25,000
To support expansion of the summer reading program for children to neighborhood schools and branch libraries. In 2001 the summer reading program served 7,500 children from toddlers to teenagers.

Milwaukee Public Museum $20,000
To support the development of an early childhood program for inner-city preschool children and their teachers. A family pass provides an opportunity for parents and children to visit the museum at no charge.

Milwaukee Tennis Foundation $5,000
Year-end gift for support for the Inner City Youth Program.

Modjeska Theatre Company, Inc. $10,000
To support the production of ‘Annie’ by the Youth Theatre Company.

MPTV $30,000
To support the development of an educational curriculum to accompany a documentary based on a recent history of Milwaukee entitled The Making of Milwaukee by local historian John Gurda.

Support for an outdoor environmental education program. An imaginative outdoor play area at Neighborhood House coupled with a one hundred acre environmental facility in Dodge County provide impressive resources for child learning about plants and the outdoors.

Nonprofit Management Fund of Milwaukee $65,000
Supports a grants program, and other resources, to help improve the management of nonprofit organizations in the Milwaukee area.

Nonprofit Management Fund of Waukesha $10,000
Supports a small grants program to help improve the management of nonprofit organizations in Waukesha County.

Notre Dame Middle School, Inc. $20,000
For the Graduate Support Program that follows middle school graduates through their high school years, providing after-school study sessions and support from mentors and tutors.

For support of the PEARLS Power Project designed to provide girls with the opportunities to apply leadership, communication and interpersonal skills in a supportive environment with trained teen and adult leaders.

Prevent Blindness - Wisconsin $10,000
To provide preschool vision screening for children in 100 daycare centers throughout the Milwaukee area. 3,000 children will be screened annually and it is expected that at least 150 children with undiagnosed vision problems will be found.

Salvation Army $10,000
Year-end gift for the Christmas Tree of Lights program.

Sixteenth Street Community Health Center $20,000
To develop a bilingual pediatric asthma case management program. A treatment team will work with 100 families including in-home visits to help identify “triggers” that cause asthma episodes. Asthma is the leading cause of school absenteeism in Milwaukee.

Special Needs Adoption Network $10,000
To support a family resource center to help adoptive and foster families with supportive services and resources to facilitate their parenting.

St. Ann Center for Intergenerational Care $25,000
To support the establishment of a senior wellness unit to aid older adults wishing to stay in their own homes with a combination of exercise, nutrition, socialization and medication management.

Task Force on Family Violence $20,000
Support of the Child Advocacy Program that provides specialized case management and legal assistance to children who are victims or witnesses of abuse and their protective parent(s).

The Parenting Network $15,000
To provide childcare services to parents attending support groups of the organization.

United Community Center $15,000
To support the development of a new math and science curriculum for the Bruce Guadalupe Middle School, a Milwaukee charter school.

UW-Milwaukee/Helen Bader Institute $50,000
Core support for this university institute which provides nonprofit management education to the nonprofit community, conducts sector research and disseminates relevant knowledge about the sector.

Volunteer Service for Visually Handicapped $5,000
Year-end gift for general operating support.

Walker's Point Center for the Arts $15,000
To support the "Hands On" Children's art education program, an after school, drop-in arts enrichment program targeting at-risk children in the Walker’s Point neighborhood.

Year-end gift to support AIDS prevention education.

Wisconsin Conservatory of Music $20,000
To support a Saturday Music Club at the Central City Cyberschool, a charter school located in the Parklawn housing development in Milwaukee.

Year-end gift for the health education program in Milwaukee.

YMCA of Metro Milwaukee $25,000
To support the Career and Life Skills Institute of the Youth Leadership Academy. This program provides after-school job skill training and summer internships for approximately 35 graduates of the Youth Leadership Academy.
