ABLE, Inc., Milwaukee, WI - $1,400 for the Braille 2000 software program to expand textbook production.

Alverno College, Milwaukee, WI - $22,500 for the Expedited Nurse Education Program that will help nurses with Associate Degrees transition more quickly to RN’s with Bachelor’s Degrees allowing for advancement into more leadership roles.

Alzheimer's Association of Southeastern WI, Milwaukee, WI - $1,500 for the "Challenging Behaviors" Task Force, to improve services for later stage Alzheimer's patients.

Cardinal Stritch University, Milwaukee, WI  - $1,000 for the African American Leadership Program.

Danceworks, Inc., Milwaukee, WI  - $20,000 for the Intergenerational Multi-Arts Project (IMAP) and Mad Hot Ballroom and Tap Programs.

Donors Forum of Wisconsin, Milwaukee, WI  - $7,500 for Business Plan Support ($5,000) and for a report on private support for Milwaukee public education ($2,500).

Friends of Hoyt Park & Pool, Wauwatosa, WI - $1,500 for the Dive In! Hoyt Park Community Pool Project.

Grand Avenue Club, Inc., Milwaukee, WI  - $25,000 for support of collaboration with Milwaukee Area Technical College, with the goal of improving educational attainment and graduation among Club members.

Greater Milwaukee Foundation, Milwaukee, WI - $50,000 for the Basic Needs Fund, which will address both short and longer term challenges faced by community residents and nonprofit organizations in providing food, shelter, medical assistance and other safety net services.

Greater Milwaukee Foundation, Milwaukee, WI - $25,000 for the support the Camps For Kids Forever Fund.

Greater Milwaukee Foundation, Milwaukee, WI - $1,250 for Grantmakers in Health Funding Partnership.

Greater Milwaukee Foundation, Milwaukee, WI - $35,000 for continued support of the 29 existing New Leaders for New Schools program in Milwaukee, a national leadership initiative to recruit, train, and place principals in Milwaukee Public and Charter Schools.  A portion of the award is a challenge grant.

Greater Milwaukee Foundation, Milwaukee, WI - $15,000 for the Student Conservation Association – Playground Initiative to refurbish Johnson, Underwood, Nash and Walker Square Parks.  The grant underwrites youth salaries and materials to refurbish the play spaces. 

Greater Milwaukee Foundation, Milwaukee, WI - $50,000 for Teach for America - the recruitment, training and support of recent college graduates who commit to 2 years of teaching in MPS.

Greater Milwaukee Foundation, Milwaukee, WI - $2,500 for the Report Card on Charitable Giving, an annual assessment of the giving climate in the Greater Milwaukee area as seen through the eyes of those seeking funds.

Greater Milwaukee Foundation, Milwaukee, WI - $60,000 for the Nonprofit Management Fund of Milwaukee County. This fund, now in its 16th year, is a partnership involving over a dozen private funding partners.

Greater Milwaukee Foundation, Milwaukee, WI - $5,000 for support of the Mosaic Milwaukee Partnership Alumni Association.  This program will focus on efforts to keep the 657 alumni connected through periodic gatherings.

Hunger Task Force of Milwaukee, Milwaukee, WI - $20,000 for the Modernization of the FoodShare Program to assist individuals and service sites in an effort to increase the application for and receipt of FoodShare benefits.

IMPACT Alcohol and Other Drug Abuse Services, Inc., Milwaukee, WI - $2,000 for the development of core information database on free medical clinics.

Interfaith Older Adult Programs, Inc., Milwaukee, WI - $35,000 for Volunteer Expansion and assessment of the role of older adults in school and education programs.

Interfaith Older Adult Programs, Inc., Milwaukee, WI - $1,000 for The Social Innovation Prize.

Latino Community Center, Milwaukee, WI  - $20,000 for the Violence-Free Zone project, focused on the south side of Milwaukee.

Marquette University, Milwaukee, WI  - $15,000 for the Community Knowledge Journalism Program.

Marquette University, Milwaukee, WI  - $10,000 for the Institute for the Transformation of Learning for a summer reading project led by Dr. Howard Fuller and Patricia Ellis.

Mental Health America of Wisconsin, Milwaukee, WI  - $30,000 for the Invisible Children's Program that serves Milwaukee children who come from homes headed by parents with a diagnosed, severe mental illness. The Visiting Therapist program will improve parenting skills and family self sufficiency. It is hoped this will have the effect of reducing the number of Milwaukee County children in foster care.

Metropolitan Milwaukee Association of Commerce, Milwaukee, WI - $30,000 for Schools That Can Milwaukee.

Milwaukee Aging Consortium, Milwaukee, WI - $26,000 for an update of the “Orientation to Aging” program designed to provide a broad scope introduction to various services that are important in the lives of older adults.

Milwaukee Chamber Theatre, Milwaukee, WI - $1,000 for the Young Playwrights Festival.

Milwaukee College Preparatory School, Milwaukee, WI - $40,000 to support the educational, capital and program initiatives at the Lindsay Heights campus of the school.

Milwaukee Public Library Foundation, Milwaukee, WI - $60,000 for a substantial enhancement of the Milwaukee Public Library’s Summer Reading program, Milwaukee’s only citywide summer initiative that will add a year round component, expand library services to reading sites and improve program results.

Milwaukee Turners, Inc., Milwaukee, WI - $10,000 over 2 years for 4th Street Forum.

Next Door Foundation, Inc., Milwaukee, WI - $30,000 for the Early Child Education Leadership Initiative to provide educational and training support for other child care providers in Greater Milwaukee.

Nonprofit Center of Milwaukee, Inc., Milwaukee, WI - $500 for the Jobs that Serve website.

Partners Advancing Values in Education, Milwaukee, WI - $50,000 to support the summer/year round learning and school quality improvement programs.

PEARLS for Teen Girls, Inc., Milwaukee, WI - $10,000 for Longitudinal Data Collection and Analysis.

Penfield Children's Center, Milwaukee, WI - $30,000 for the Behavior Clinic, to help the Clinic diversify revenues and build on its recent accreditation to enhance services.

Planned Parenthood of Wisconsin, Milwaukee, WI - $25,000 for Colposcopy services, for low-income women not able to afford this important cancer-fighting medical procedure.

Rebuilding Together Greater Milwaukee, Milwaukee, WI - $50,000 to help underwrite expansion of the pioneering Senior Home Assessment and Repair Program (SHARP) from Layton Boulevard to 8-10 additional neighborhoods. The project is driven by a community-University government partnership that provides occupational therapy assessment and home repair enabling older adults to continue living at home. A portion of this grant is a challenge to help encourage other funders to participate.

Running Rebels Community Organization, Milwaukee, WI  - $20,000 for the Violence-Free Zone project, focused on the north side of Milwaukee.

S.E.T. Ministry, Milwaukee, WI  - $5,000 for a parent involvement component in the PEACE Program, serving seven central city elementary and middle schools.

SHARP Literacy, Inc., Milwaukee, WI  - $40,000 to increase the number of first grade classrooms, to partner with Marquette University’s Institute for the Transformation of Learning and for a teacher training partnership pilot with Marquette’s School of Education. 

Sojourner Family Peace Center (formerly Sojourner Truth House), Milwaukee, WI - $40,000 for the expansion of advocacy services as well as additional program evaluation consultation.

St. Francis Children’s Center, Milwaukee, WI - $10,000 for the renovation of a specialized therapeutic outdoor play area.

United Community Center, Milwaukee, WI – $25,000 for the expansion of the Olga Village Senior Services, in partnership with the Housing Authority, City of Milwaukee, Columbia College School of Nursing and 16th Street Community Health Center. This award will also help expansion of the school at UCC, as senior services will be relocated to the new space.

Urban Day School, Milwaukee, WI – $40,000 for the Advocacy Department, launched two years ago with Foundation Support.

Urban Ecology Center, Milwaukee, WI  - $45,000 for the Neighborhood Environmental Education Program.  Support allows the Center to continue its education program partnerships with over 40 schools, and evaluate the program’s outcomes in collaboration with MPS and DPI. 

University of Wisconsin – Milwaukee Center on Age and Community, Milwaukee, WI - $15,000 for the Penelope Project, a collaboration of artists, academics, practitioners, students and residents of Luther Manor to create and perform a play and ultimately a curriculum that can be used in other facilities catering to older adults.

University of Wisconsin - Milwaukee, Milwaukee, WI - $5,000 for the fund established to honor the service of Dr. John Palmer Smith of the Helen Bader Institute of Nonprofit Management. The fund will be used to support students taking courses offered through the Institute.

Vital Voices for Mental Health, Milwaukee, WI - $1,000 to evaluate and improve the Targeted Case Management programs.

Waukesha Memorial Hospital Foundation, Milwaukee, WI - $35,000 for the Waukesha Community Health Center.

Wisconsin Family Assistance Center for Education, Training and Support, Inc., Milwaukee, WI - $35,000 for the Milwaukee IDEA Network, a project which aims to expand the support for families, children who may need an Individualized Education Program (IEP) from their local school. The Network is an association of nearly a dozen area nonprofits providing support to families and schools.

YWCA of Greater Milwaukee, Milwaukee, WI - $1,000 for the Workforce Alliance Conference.
