The top priority in the children's area is student achievement oriented education programs serving ages
1-13.
Specifically, the Foundation supports the following:
- Improving or maintaining reading skills, year round;
- Enhancing staff development benefiting public and private
school recruitment, retention and instructional improvements;
- Providing substantive enrichment programs that build student achievement in-school, before school, after school and during the summer;
- Improving parent involvement and build family engagement
in education, as well as family literacy;
- Enhancing high-performing schools, both private and public. School enhancement will be implemented through grantmaking involving Foundation-identified schools.
Other priorities are:
- Expanding opportunities for older adolescents through results-oriented programs that build upon youth talent and initiative in education, employment, community service and careers;
- Building or renovating community playgrounds in Milwaukee; and
- Strengthening parenting skills and resources for parents.
